In a sea of master agents, it can be challenging to find one that truly stands out from the crowd and offers better value. In fact, unlike other master agents, we don’t hold commissions which means we don’t keep what’s yours.
Our Commissions Auditing Process
At Innovative, we take a unique approach to commissions. While it’s common for master agents to hold commissions for two months – following the payment from the carrier – at Innovative, we pay our agents the same month that the commission check shows up in our account. Additionally, during that same time frame, we’re reconciling those commissions so agents won’t have to go through the trouble of disputing their commission if they don’t get paid on time.
In order to create an effective and seamless auditing process, we go through every single order in our system and compare our findings with what we’ve gotten paid on the supplier side. This allows us to dispute anything we need to. Our disputes fall into three different categories that allow us to sift through commissions properly:
- Billing variance. If anything comes back with a 10% variance, we’ll ask the supplier for more information about any changes made such as if the customer upgraded or downgraded service or if they were past due on a bill that would affect the commission payout.
- Accounts that paid previous months but not the current month. We contact carriers and confirm that clients didn’t disconnect services. If we identify no issues, we request that they provide the payment on the following commission run.
- Accounts that we’ve installed but that have exceeded the standard frames for first commission payment. While every carrier is different – some paying the same month and others the following month – we have payments flagged in our system based on our criteria. If we notice that the carrier has passed its timeline, we’ll dispute it.
Our proactive approach to dealing with commissions and disputes allows us to be one step ahead for our agents. We can dispute anywhere between 1,000 to 3,000 issues a month without ever having an agent ask us for anything. What’s more, nine out of 10 times an agent comes to us with a dispute, we’ll have already disputed it.
